The year 1996 was a big one for bowling and the web. In one way or another, all the products at North American Bowling are tied into this pioneering website. The website "http://www.worldleagues.net" (originally listed as "http://www.MMSTL.com") was the ground-breaker for a lot of bowling's nationwide and international exposure. One of the high-profile bowling leagues in the Washington Metro area, the "Men's Maryland Suburban Traveling League (MMSTL)" launched the first truly comprehensive website for a bowling league. argentina contact in 1997 adelaide currier in 1996 or 97 or 98 canada contact from john honeyford, which led to pro fivepinners greg and mike entering buddy creamer tournament and then pro tours. softroll bowling balls being first distributed in the states through the mmstl at that time. subsequently, men and women canadian fivepinners entered and won duckpin pro tourneys. when nabn mag came out, candlepinner bob whitcomb soon entered a dp pro tour, and made a very impressive showing. soon after, ezekiel delfino got wind of dp tourneys in the states, and made the long journey to participate in the pwpt. soon after, between delfino's contact, and the earlier 1997 contact, dispirito made contact and thus the 1st idbc was launched. 3 years later, palmisciano picked up the ball and helped launch the 2nd installment. such a success was this one, that media pack was sent to white house, and president graciously responded. on a side note, the forerunner to twitter was launched through the mmstl in late 2005 -- 6 months before dorsey and co founded twitter officially. one can't help but wonder, however, if the mmstl's version was seen through the highly popular mmstl website (over 100 countries prior to that found duckpins through the site). whether the idea for twitter was lifted from the mmstl site or not, it still is documented that the innovative idea was first thought of and tried out at the duckpin lanes. See the reference on the cover of one of the weekly booklets. Note the similarity between the original term "Text Webcasting" and "Twitter" (same 2 first letters in TWitter as "Text Webcasting"'s initials (TW). It wouldn't be too hard to fathom the term "Tweet" came from "Text Webcasting Feed" (a 'feed' being like a news feed). Shorten the 3 words into "TWeed", and then even further into "Tweet". This would explain how the little bird logo for Twitter also came into being. Brackets in bowling was also originated from the MMSTL league. Weekly booklets have bracket-style tournaments throughout the year, and always one big one at the end of the season. the original idea utilized an hp ipaq palm pc, a nokia cell phone, and a website set up to receive basic messages to an asp page, which was then rebroadcast at the receiving website, which refreshed itself every 15 seconds, or so. detail the booklet stats -- 65000 copies, 10 million keystrokes, maybe web pages generated, note that the 2 million views may not seem like much now, but back in 1996-2000, there weren't an abundance of cell phones, tablets, etc. And 2 million views for a duckpin bowling league website that did nothing to advertise itself to the general public -- it mostly came up on Yahoo searches, etc. mention wiseman email reiterate the high profile names of bowling interviews for nabn there are 2 plays that could make twitter seem small: spt zn av curr
